RedBite is a small (but perfectly formed) software company that is revolutionising the way the world keeps track of its assets. Our Founders were part of the original architects of the EPC Network at the Auto-ID Centre based in the University of Cambridge, where the Internet of Things was first coined.
“Alexa, where is my MacBook?”
Your mission is to build an Alexa skill for our product, itemit. itemit is an asset management and tracking platform and app suite. itemit has in-depth knowledge about your items all accessible via your mobile. This includes the location of your items, renewals and expiries associated with items, user manuals and so much more! With your help we want to catapult itemit’s capabilities in to the realm of Amazon Echo. The skill you build should allow users to ask natural questions and commands about their items, such as "When is my car tax due for renewal?” “Reorder printer cartridges for office printer” Essentially, the skill will allow complex queries to tap into the itemit database of physical objects and the events that revolve around them.
The first part of the project is to brainstorm and analyse essential user stories and use cases that will fit within the project scope and timeframe. You will be expected to analyse pre-existing anonymous data in itemit and employ development tools relating to Artificial Intelligence (AI), graph database, visualisation, etc. At the end of the project you will have built an Alexa skill prototype linked with our existing itemit app. This is a challenging and rewarding project, ideal for an individual seeking an internship that will lead to demonstrable results and benefits for a growing company.
