[Edwin Abbott Abbott (1838-1926)]: annotated copy of F.H.A. Scrivener’s The New Testament in the original Greek (1860). Also contains loose-leaf typescript p.p. 277-284 from “Suggestions on the History and Letters of St Paul” by W.M. Ramsey (Expositor VIII/5 [1913]: 264-284). Abbott was a student and later Fellow of St John’s College, where he studied classics, mathematics and theology. He is also the author of Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions (1884).

250x200 mm. Folio approx. [600] pages. Paper, gilt-edged. Leather-backed boards, with blind-tooled fillets. Gold-tooled centrepiece depicts the coat of arms for the University of Cambridge. Printed by C.J. Clay, Printer to Cambridge University, 1854-1882. College bookplate and bookplate belonging to E.A. Abbott on inside front board. Secured with white cloth tie.
