Edwin Abbott Abbott (1838-1926): autograph theological notes. Includes additional pastedown and loose-leaf typescript extracts from “The Ancient Mysteries and their Relation to St Paul” by W.M. Ramsey (The Athenaeum, no.4448 [25 January, 1913]); Review of James Moulton and George Milligan’s The Vocabulary of the Greek Testament (1914), by H. A. A. Kennedy (Review of Theology and Philosophy [May 1915]: p.p. 665-670); and an annotated newspaper clipping, “Palestine in the Graeco-Roman Age: Paper at the British Academy” [22 March, 1912]. Crayon note on p.1 reads: “Christ’s Teaching, not Interim’s Ethik”. Abbott was a student and later Fellow of St John’s College, where he studied classics, mathematics and theology. He is also the author of Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions (1884).
