Collection of services and anthems by Gibbons, Croft, Goldwin, Green, Bishop, Blow, Purcell and others, no date, but eighteenth century. There is a list of contents in several hands on the rear flyleaf.

240x340 mm. 184 pp. (paginated 1-87 from the front, skipping one opening at 75-6 subsequently sealed, and 1-79 from the end, with unnumbered pages in the centre). Most of pp. 94-5 has been cut away. A College organ book, returned to St John's by Ralph Griffin and presented to the College Library by Robert Forsyth Scott, then Master of St John's, 1917 (donation plate inside front cover, and see Library Committee minutes of 9 June 1917). The following inscriptions appear inside the front cover, together with the bookplates of Ralph Griffin and W. H. Cummings, and a small College bookplate (twentieth century): 'ought at Dr W. H. Cummings sale at Sothebys in lot 700 on 21 May 1917 for which I gave £9. 0. 0 Ralph Griffin. Inner Temple' (together with cuttings from this sale catalogue, and an earlier catalogue, both pasted in), 'Organ book from St John's College Cam.' (mid twentieth century), and 'Transferred to Chapel Music Library by authority of Council Minute No. 2256, 9 Feb. 1962' (hand of Guy Lee, Librarian of St John's College). Also four sketches of faces (eighteenth century).

Several hands. Paper. Original blind-tooled leather binding on boards, repaired, perhaps early in the twentieth century. Spine titles on paper labels: 'Services and Anthems Organ Book St Johns College', and 'Cambridge Purcell - Gibbons - Croft - Goldwin etc.' Label on cover: '6th Book St Joh' (torn).
