The St John's Innovation Internship scheme, which was launched in 2016, will provide again this year the opportunity to current Undergraduate and Master's students in the College to undertake an internship at one of the partner companies.
Four placements will be available for Long Vacation 2017 and the internships will last eight weeks (precise dates will be decided in conjunction with the interns).
The interns will receive free accommodation in College, and a living allowance, provided by the College, of £1,000 per month. Eligible students will additionally be able to apply for the College's means-tested summer bursaries.
The internships (up to 40 hours per week) will be held at one of the partner companies. Most partner companies are based at St John's Innovation Centre and receive weekly mentoring sessions from Mr David Gill, Director of the Centre.
For summer 2017, there are nine companies which offer intern positions within the scheme. Please click on the links below to find out more about the companies and the projects.
The application procedure starts on Friday, 17th February and the deadline for applications will be on Friday, 24th March, at 9am.
Students who wish to apply will be asked to:
(i) write a cover letter for the College and state which company / project they are interested in (they can have up to 3 options in an order of preference) and how the internship would benefit their personal and academic development,
(ii) enclose their CV (including A level and Exams results), and
(iii) enclose a cover letter about the project and their suitability for it. If they are interested in more than one projects, they may wish to write separate cover letters for each of them, as this cover letter will be sent to the company.
On the application form, there is a field about "Previous exchange experience" - please leave this blank as it is not applicable in your case.
Student Services would be happy to respond to informal enquiries and requests for information.
On Friday, 3rd March, students will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the partner companies at an event organised by the College. The College would like to invite all the students who are interested in the St John's Innovation Internships Scheme. The event will take place at the Lightfoot Room and will start at 6pm.
