SpecialisationFrench; 20th- and 21th- century Canadian literature; landscape studies
Research interestsMy doctoral work was focused on the politics and poetics of intermediality in Canadian landscape writing. Drawing on the pluridisciplinary field of landscape studies, I have worked on the politics of looking, the postcolonial parody of landscape pictorial codes, the theoretical foundation of the Western visual definition of landscape, and the phenomenological approaches to landscape. My attention has now veered toward the related notion of place and I am interested in the articulation between postcolonial and ecological ethos in Canadian writers’ ongoing reflection on the sense of place.
